Medical Assisting (Diploma)

Fortis College offers a diploma for Medical Assistant in 76.5 credits. Graduates of the Medical Assistant – Diploma program are prepared to take the national certification examination for Medical Assistance through the National Center for Competency Testing.

As Medical Assistants work in doctors’ offices, hospitals, and clinics in a number of ways, they are trained in both administrative and technical aspects of the job. Part of the educational experience at Fortis College is an externship during which students are able to work hands-on in the field to prepare for career success.

Medical Office Specialist (Diploma)

No medical office can run without the expertise of trained administrators, and the Medical Office Specialist Program at Fortis College prepares individuals to take on this role. Topics studied include secretarial, reception, transcription, and insurance billing and coding – all as it pertains to the medical office. The diploma program takes 76.5 credits and also requires students to perform an externship. This is an opportunity to work first-hand in a medical office to get the best possible educational experience.

Massage Therapy (Diploma)

Focusing on the fundamentals of massage therapy, and preparing graduates for the national certification exam, the Diploma in Massage Therapy program at Fortis College – Richmond is a great way to pursue employment in this exciting career field. A combination of hands-on training and lectures, the Massage Therapy Diploma program includes studies in physiology, kinesiology, Swedish techniques, and pathology.

Surgical Technologist (Diploma)

Including more than 5 months at an externship at a hospital operating room, it’s no exaggeration to say that graduates of the Surgical Technologist program at Fortis College will receive numerous career-based training experiences during the course of the diploma program.
