Going to School in Pembroke Pines, FL

Pembroke Pines is in Broward County and is located an equal distance from Fort Lauderdale and Miami, about 15 miles from each. Pembroke Pines was incorporated in 1960 with about 1,500 residents but has grown to a population of over 135,000 today.

The city was actually a rural area extending between Hollywood, on the coast, and the Everglades to the west. The area offered a bit more room for their property and also offered the opportunity to express individuality by constructing houses without the confinement of developments and subdivisions. The disastrous Hurricane Andrew helped fuel explosive growth for Pembroke Pines in the 1990s by prompting many who had lost their homes in the Miami area to move north.

Pembroke Pines is a short drive from Fort Lauderdale. Known as the “Venice of America,” Fort Lauderdale has a quite extensive canal system and is a major center for yachting. The city features over 100 boatyards and marinas and more than 40,000 yachts. Fort Lauderdale is a major tourist destination and hosts more than 10 million visitors annually.

Also nearby, the city of Miami, known as the “Magic City,” has become a truly international city where people can experience a positive living experience and live and work prosperously. Miami has a diverse culture and is known as The Gateway to Latin America based on the many links to Central and South America and the Caribbean. This diversity insures that visitors will have a truly inspiring and unique experience.
