About Fortis College

Fortis College declares that they “believe in doing one thing and doing it well.” For them, that means offering training specifically in the health care field.

Foley, AL Health Care StudentThe school was founded in 1984 as Capps College in order to create educational opportunities for area residents interested in furthering their training after high school. It is the only school in the area that focuses solely on medical-related training. As of late-2008, the school is now known as Fortis College – the same great school under a new name.

They have a mission to “change lives by providing our students with the opportunity for career advancement and a better life through high quality educational programs supported by caring and dedicated faculty and staff.”

Medical Assisting (Diploma)

Fortis College offers a diploma for Medical Assistant in 76.5 credits. Graduates are prepared to take the national certification examination for Medical Assistance through the National Center for Competency Testing. As Medical Assistants work in doctors’ offices, hospitals, and clinics in a number of ways, they are trained in both administrative and technical aspects of the job. Part of the educational experience at Fortis College is an externship during which students are able to work hands-on in the field to prepare for career success.
